The All Progressives Congress (APC) and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have described 2019 as year of consolidation on achievements of government and brighter experience, respectively.

Felicitating with Nigerians on the occasion of the new year, the APC in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu urged a reflection on what it called the tremendous progress its government has made in the last three and a half years.

“On this joyous occasion, let us reflect on the tremendous progress we have made as a nation in the last three and half years. The significant leap towards recovering our country from the abyss would become obvious when we look back at the precarious state our country was in 2015 due to the preceding 16 years of irresponsible leadership.

“It is however heartwarming to note that Nigeria has now turned the corner, moving away from the years of waste towards a stable and prosperous future.

As citizens, we must play our part by continuing to support ongoing efforts by the President Muhammad Buhari-led administration to rebuild the nation.

“The forthcoming general elections in 2019 provides us a great opportunity to consolidate on the progress we have made together as a country under the APC administration.

“We reiterate our stand that candidates that should be elected at all levels must be those that can pass the integrity test and be adjudged to be above board in positions of responsibility they have held in the past.

“Our NEXT LEVEL campaign provides a clear roadmap to further deliver on our promises and the Change Agenda largely harped on fighting corruption, improving the economy and tackling insecurity.

“We remain solidly committed to good governance and a participatory democracy which allows for peaceful, free, fair, credible and transparent elections.

“As a nation, we urge all to kick against unpatriotic practices such as hate campaign, spurious and unsubstantiated allegations and deliberate inciting statements being directed at critical state institutions and public officials by the desperate leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

“As a progressive party, the APC remains committed to deepening internal party democracy, unity and cohesion to provide a strong and united political platform to ensure the success of our Change Agenda at the federal, state and local levels.

“We must shun divisive elements in our private and public spaces who exploit sentiments to sell hate and intolerance amongst us in the name of religion, politics and other leanings. Despite our perceived differences, our strength remains in our diversity.

“Finally, we call on Nigerians to look forward to the new year with great optimism and positive possibilities as President Muhammadu Buhari leads the charge to establish the Nigeria of our dreams,” the APC said.

Brighter horizon for Nigeria – APGA

In his new year message to the peoples of Nigeria, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr Victor Oye, predicted that 2019 will bring a better lease of life for Nigerians.

Oye said this in his New Year message released in Awka on Tuesday.

He expressed optimism that the new year would usher in abundance wealth and health for all Nigerians, noting that the worst days may have gone with 2018.

He appealed to Nigerians to remain prayerful and continue to live in peace and harmony with one another.

According to the national chairman, God is a merciful and gracious God that will not allow his people to suffer unduly.

“2018 was a very excruciating year for many Nigerians, but those that went through one sad experience or another should continue to look at the bright side of life, because no condition in life is permanent.

“It is my hope that some of the fiscal measures introduced by the Federal Government in the outgoing year will begin to bear fruit,” he said.

Oye urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that the 2019 general elections were free and fair.

He prayed God to bless and keep Nigeria united in the midst of obvious national challenges including insecurity, ethnocentricism and corruption which, according to him, had threatened the stability of the country.

New Year: Farmers, herdsmen will soon live together – Pastor Enenche

In his own message, the General Overseer and Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja, Dr Paul Enenche, also reeled out prophecy of hope and response of God for Nigeria and Nigerians in 2019.

Speaking at the church’s cross over service Tuesday morning, Enenche said that 2019 was not an ordinary year for the country, saying that God was ready to complete a major work on Nigeria.

Reading the scripture from the book of Jeremiah chapter 31 verses 10 to 17, he said that God had promised deliverance and deliveries for the country in 2019.

According to him, God is set to deliver the country from every misfortune and bloodshed in order to deliver peace and prosperity to the people.

“2019 is not an ordinary year, we are going to see instantaneous response of God.

“God said that I should tell the church that they shall not stop praying and I will not leave Nigeria alone until I perfect my will for the nation.

“The enemy is fighting a lost battle, my hand shall rest on the nation and the whole of creation is waiting my manifestation through Nigeria.

“The pains you see are the birth signs for Nigeria. God said suddenly deliverance and delivery shall happen and it will become history.”

Reading from Jeremiah 31 verse 10, Enenche added: “Thus saith the Lord, Nigeria shall come to her quarters again. Our land is coming to a point where there shall be justice and equity, where there is no partiality.

“The Lord told me a time will come when the farmers and herdsmen will cohabit together without any challenge.

“God is bringing Nigerians to a place where we can sleep well in the night with our two eyes closed,” he said.

Over a hundred thousand Christian worshippers besieged the newly dedicated 100,000-seat capacity Glory Sanctuary of the church for the cross over service into 2019.
