The Ogun State Police Command has announced its arrest of a 70-year-old man, Adefuye Emmanuel Teslim , for defiling a 13 years old girl it did not name.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), made this announcement in a statement he issued in Abeokuta, the state capital on Wednesday.
Oyeyemi said the crime was committed at an area called Parapete Area of Ago-Iwoye in the state on April 22, 2018.
According to the statement, “The suspect was arrested following a complaint from Mariam Kareem ‘f’ the mother of the victim who reported that her 13yr old daughter was lured into an apartment by the suspect where he forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
“She complained further that the suspect threatened to kill the girl if she ever tells anybody about her experience with him. But the girl who was feeling pain on her private part later informed her mother, consequence upon which the mother reported the case to the Police at Ago-Iwoye Division.
“On the strength of her report, the DPO CSP Ade Adedoyin led detectives to the scene and the suspect was promptly arrested. The victim was taken to the General Hospital for medical examination and the result confirmed that the girl had been sexually abused.”
In the meantime, the statement informed that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered that the case be transferred to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for proper investigation and prosecution of the suspect.
