Eight people have reportedly died early in the morning on Sunday after Mgbuodohia community in Rumuolumeni, Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers state was invaded.

The Nation reports that some gunmen stormed the community in the wee hours of Sunday, April 7, killing eight persons and injuring many others.

Confirming the incident, the chairman of the community, Sunny Odum, said the victims were killed in the attack.

Describing the killings and invasion of the community as strange, Odum urged residents to return to their homes.

He also assured that security operatives in the state were already on top of the matter and will track the attackers in no time.
