It was quite a dramatic episode in Port-Harcourt on Thursday, July 27 when Acting President Yemi Osinbajo was escorted to the commissioning of some projects by Rotimi Amaechi and Senator Magnus Abe.

According to reports, the drama began when APC faithful, who besieged the airport began shouting “the Lion” as the Minister of transport stepped off the presidential jet.

He was followed by Senator Abe. Both men then proceeded to walk to the chopper which was waiting for the acting president.

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers was waiting with some traditional leaders to receive Osinbajo, as he alighted from the jet.

The climax of the saga occurred when the governor pointed to a waiting BMW to chauffeur the acting president to the next location. But instead of proceeding to the vehicle, Osinbajo insisted that they walk to the waiting chopper where Amaechi and Abe were already seated.

Wike was visibly worried as he was seen trying to cajole the acting president to go with his initial plan. Osinbajo refused to budge however, as he nudged the governor towards the waiting chopper.

Resigned, the governor had to leave his entourage and go with Osinbajo to the chopper where his predecessor was waiting with Abe.

As soon as Wike joined Osinbajo, Amaechi and Abe in the chopper, Amaechi’s supporters began screaming at him, “come down, come down”, while others kept hailing Amaechi as “the Lion”.

This happened until the chopper took off.

It was previously reported that Acting President Yemi Osinbajo was on Thursday, July 27, received at the Port Harcourt International Airport by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

The development was disclosed on the governor’s Facebook page, in a statement signed by Simeon Nwakaudu, the special assistant to the Rivers state governor on electronic media.
