A yet another damaging rumour in desperate attempt by opposition Peoples Democratic Party leaders to cause confusion ahead rescheduled polls has again been refuted.

A yet to be named chieftain of the party, The DEFENDER’s quick investigation revealed, cooked and served a rumour Thursday morning that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was locked out of a meeting of power in Abuja and, therefore, that he had resigned his appointment.

One of well-wishers of Nigeria and staunch supporter of Muhammadu Buhari Administration, Mr. Frank Taylor called from Akure, Ondo State capital to gear us towards investigation of the information even as he demanded a quick rebuttal of such dangerous rumour coming in less than 48 hours to the rescheduled elections.

A call to the Office of the Vice President by The DEFENDER afforded it the opportunity to see through the story as mere wishful thinking of the already known opposition party, the PDP.

Prof. Osinbajo himself, later Thursday afternoon, responded to the rumour via his Facebook and other social media handles describing it as misleading and fake news.

He added that he had not resigned and that he remained committed to the service of the people of Nigeria under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Misleading/FAKE news is on the rise especially in this season when Nigerians will make a choice about who will govern them for the next four years.

“I have no issues with security meetings. I have been acting president, privilege no VP has ever enjoyed. I have not resigned!

“I remain committed to the service of the Nigerian people under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.”

PDP leaders like Atiku Abubakar, Bukola Saraki, Femi Fani-Kayode and Yinka Odumakin had recently had their making of fake news and misleading information in the country.

Where Atiku said among other things that President Buhari owned the Keystone Bank, which was refuted by the bank publishing names of its directors as with Corporate Affairs Commission(CAC), the PDP presidential candidate has since dodged into corner when confronted with evidence of N156 million he benefited from slush fund of bankrupt Bank PHB.

Saraki had also been fingered in yet to be made public report of investigation of fake information given to DG DSS Lawal Daura which led to security siege on the National Assembly and eventual sack of the chief secret officer.

Femi Fani-Kayode and Yinka Odumakin were being on the wanted list for carrying fake news that immediately after his appointment as co-chairman of Muhammadu Buhari APC Presidential Campaign Council, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu slumped and was in coma in hospital.

A respondent however summarised all of these as indication of defeat of the opposition PDP.

“It is summarily indication of defeat on the part of the PDP and by now we can begin to shake hands with President Buhari and his Deputy, Osinbajo for their landslide victory despite the almost four years old bloody, unpatriotic and unconstructive opposition mounted from within APC by Atiku, Saraki and other nPDP who layer moved back to their old party and did worse to the government,” he said.
