The leakage of the purported report of the committee set up to investigate alleged financial wrong doings by suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation and National Intelligence Agency chief, was meant to embarrass President Muhammadu Buhari.

Good Conscience Initiative, a civil society group disclosed this on Sunday.

They said the leakage of report on suspended SGF David Babacir Lawal and the Director General of NIA, Ayo Oke, was a mere political gimmick intended to embarrass Buhari as he is set to resume in office.

The group said the “Timing of the so-called leaked report at a time when the president is getting set to resume in office, exposes the motive as a calculated underhand ploy to tie the hands of the president in a manner that would compel him to act only according to the wishes of those, who are bent on setting him up against some key officials of his government,” the coordinator of the group Hassan Musa said in a statement.

He said the leaked information “Is a product of stage-managed conspiracy to on return, box the president into a corner and to pre-empt the release of the actual report so as to tie the hands of President Buhari to do the wishes of those, who do not want the SGF to be reinstated.”
