Let this my decision make a difference in the result of Saturday elections for APC in Lagos State and Agege in particular. God will remember us for good and take us all to the #Nextlevel. Vote #SanwooluVote #ObasaVote #OgundimuVote #APC”, Jubreel pleads.

Former Chairman Agege Local Government, Hon. Jubreel Abdulkareem, has formally withdrawn from the race for the Membership Seat of Agege Constituency 01 in Saturday 9 March 2019.

The Accord Party candidate, who left All Progressives Congress (APC) , at the instance of his teaming supporters in the Agege Constituency 01 based on unresolved issues with the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashir Obasa, said he was withdrawing in humble response to pressures from various quarters within the APC.

He appealed to his supporters to accept his latest decision in good faith by voting for APC’s Obasa on Saturday to return to the state Assembly, just as he pleaded with entire Agege Local Government electorate to vote Ogundimu for Agege Constituency 02 as well as for Babajide Sanwo-Olu as governorship candidate of APC in the Saturday’s governorship and state House of assembly elections in the state.

It will be recalled the constituents of Agege had crossed their hearts against Obasa as they damned all consequences saying, after they had voted for Buhari and all the inadequacies of the last polls, that they would resist any attempt to block them from voting for whichever party Jubreel chooses in the March 9 Assembly election.

The DEFENDER had earlier in the week reported the politicians denied stepping down for Obasa against the rumour to the effect. He said the Speaker visited him but that he had not consented.

The beauty of the whole resolution is that, Hon. Jubreel Abdulkareem personally told The DEFENDER, the sole media organisation that followed the crisis from beginning the positive, logical conclusion, that although both sides have learned their lessons but that there would be no vanquished, no victor.

Details of the Jubreel’s official press release announcing his withdrawal from the race was posted on National Interest, the WhatsApp platform of The DEFENDER Newspaper on Friday by Chief Press Secretary to the Speak of Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr. Musbau Rasak, and confirmed by Jubreel.

Although details of the talks that took place leading to the last minute withdrawal was yet to be made available to The DEFENDER, sources said it meant the former LG chairman’s grievances had been resolved by APC leadership who may have drawn him back to its fold.

According to the release, Jubreel said: “I find it neccessary to take the most difficult decision of my lifetime.

“Today I yielded to pressures from notable quarters to drop my ambition of contesting for the Lagos State House of Assembly elections in Agege Constituency 01 under the platform of Accord Party. There is no gainsaying that it was a difficult decision considering the readiness of our supporters and promoters to cast their ballots in our favour in less than 24 hours.

“I withdrew my participation in the next election to galvanise support for All Progressive Congress candidates in the State elections on Saturday having succumbed to superior arguments of taking Agege to #Nextlevel. What seemed to be irreconciliable differences that emanated from the conduct of primary elections in APC were suppressed with lessons learnt by all parties.

“There is no doubt that we have invested so much in people to gain their confidence. I am double sure that most of my followers and supporters would feel dissappointed with this eleventh hour decision, no sacrifice is too much to promote peace, love and better neighbourliness. I can only appeal for calmness and understanding in the believe that we have taken all issues into consideration and Agege shall be great again.

“I have consulted widely in the last 72hours for guidance, yet i couldn’t reach the mass of our followers, it will be more challenging for me to pèrsonally calm fray nerves in the next 24 hours but I pray for wisdom and strength to do my best possible.

“I wish to use this medium to sincerely appeal to family, friends, followers, associates, admirers and all well wishers to come out en mass and vote for all APC candidates on Saturday 9th March 2019. Your vote for APC is also your vote for me. Let this my decision make a difference in the result of Saturday elections for APC in Lagos State and Agege in particular. God will remember us for good and take us all to the #Nextlevel.

“Vote #Sanwoolu
Vote #Obasa
Vote #Ogundimu
Vote #APC

“Signed: Alhaji Hon. Jubreel Abdulkareem”.
