I, along with not less than 85% of my State Executive, hereby resign our membership and our various offices in PDP and dump PDP to join APC.  We want our teeming supporters to note, while a date of celebration of our freedom which the exit represents, will be announced very soon.

The end may not have been heard of the defection from All Progressives Congress (APC) to People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Tuesday by Senate President Bukola Saraki as, barely under 48 hours to the announcement of his entrance, the umbrella party is already in disarray as virtually the whole Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo-led state structure have defected from the PDP to the APC.

Announcing the defection in a statement countersigned, titled “Sunset on PDP in Kwara State”, by Alhaji Lateef G. Alakawa as Secretary of Kwara PDP, Oyedelop gave the reason for the latest action.

It said, “The defection of the Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki and his usual cronies in to the PDP in Kwara State, the sun has set on that Party in the State.

“I have said it repeatedly that darkness and light cannot co-habit.  The clown adept at political manipulations represents sour taste in the mouths of the people of Kwara State for the past sixteen years.

“We the brand of politicians that built PDP Kwara to a mass movement cannot be part of the odor emitting from that Party henceforth.”

The statement created an impression of APC’s chances already thin for the 2019 as the people, it was insinuated, were prepared to do a protest voting against APC to prove a point that Saraki’s grip on Kwara State politics must henceforth end.

Oyedepo however averred that now that Saraki has come into the PDP, the other way round is the case as that protest voting that would have been against the APC will now favour APC but be done against PDP, which he noted will now lose in the coming elections in the state.

“We warned the National leadership of PDP not to pollute the Party heading for victory in the state in 2019, they said compulsorily the must wrap our work with stench.  If that Party had lost Ekiti, Ondo and Edo since 2015 elections; the Party has no hope in Kwara in 2019.  In Kwara State, we are fighting a cause of liquidating a political godfatherism that has turned dynastic.

“I and not less than 85% of all the structure and members of the PDP at all levels in the State must take our exit at the appearance of this darkness.  In the first instance many of us were forced into PDP because the likes of Bukola Saraki was admitted into the APC in 2013.  We have therefore moved into our natural habitat.

“Let nobody bother us with 60/40% sharing ratio, even if sharing ratio is 90/10% in our favour, we shall still not do political business with Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the Waziri of Ilorin.  We detest his politics that is devoid of principle, character and integrity.  APC here we come.  Together we shall free our State from years of misgovernment.

I, along with not less than 85% of my State Executive, hereby resign our membership and our various offices in PDP and dump PDP to join APC.  We want our teeming supporters to note, while a date of celebration of our freedom which the exit represents, will be announced very soon.
