*Party loyalists excited
Governor of Sokoto State, Rt Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, may have again lived up to people’s expectation as loyalists of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state burst into excitement on Sunday following a peace move brought him and former Senator Umaru Dahiru together.
The loyalists on Sunday expressed appreciation over the peaceful moves said to have been initiated among party supporters through which the two top politicians met at a function in Sokoto.
The DEFENDER learned that there had been no love lost between Governor Tambuwal and Senator Dahiru for a long period.
Our source said that the function organised at Tambuwal’s residence last Saturday and attended by former Senator was the first of its kind since 2014.
He explained that the longstanding political feud threatening the foundation of the ruling APC in the state have been settled, with the principal actors (Tambuwal and Dahiru) sitting in one place.
According to him, the former allies went their separate ways in December 2014 after Tambuwal, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, defeated the ex-chairman of Senate Committee on Judiciary (Dahiru) to emerge the flag bearer of the APC for the April 2015 governorship election.
