That talk about impeaching President Muhammadu Buhari is the dumbest joke of the century, same time the costliest joke so far of Nigeria’s nascent democracy!
By the way, do those brewing this broth know what they are really doing? Do they know that the current presidency is not about Buhari but about the North? Have they given it any thought that this is not about party but more about the fact that Buhari is running the slot and time of the North?
Are they forgetting that outside election, if he is impeached, Osinbajo slots in like Jonathan did with Yar’Adua’s remaining slot, and then it becomes end of the story?
And this is going to be so because, even if Osinbajo slots in and runs the remnant of Buhari’s term, the STALEMATE would be that the South West and the rest of the regions will not trust a new man to come in for the North’s second term being that, after four years he definitely will become an Oliver Twist who will ask for another term “to complete what he started”. Remember Jonathan did such – more reason why any adventure now may be the end-game for this democracy because we may get stuck in a deadly “lose it all” stalemate.
So head or tail, those behind all this impeachment game would eventually face-fall and end up being consumed by the inferno they are currently stoking.
As for those who noticed the perplexity of some Northern Senators, fact is they knew in their innermost that a word or step out of turn could mark the end of an era for some, and for some, their families could end-up singing them a dirge!
One single phrase that describes Buhari and those die-hards who believe in him is “Monkey no fine, but im mam like am!”
The man and his mandate is like an apple cart, you do not move it forcefully. You can only move it with utmost subtlety and reason being that one bruised apple turns the nemesis of others!
The Senate leadership is described as “Bull in a China shop”. Yes, it is understably so because the calculus does not favour him beyond his present office – that is the highest he would ever get in this nation and he knows it!
So a “caged” bull would behave true to type by pulling down whatever just to showcase its vindictive nature. But do you want to know what happens to recalcitrant bulls? …. Then, as a Matador!
