*Warns secessionist agitators against unguarded, hate speeches
The Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II on behalf of the people of Akure Kingdom has sent his congratulatory message to Muslim faithful in the country and world in general, on their successful completion of the Ramadan fast and the celebration of this year Eid el Fitri.
The message was contained in a statement issued by the monarch’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Michael Adeyeye, copy of which was sent to The DEFENDER on Sunday.
Oba Aladelusi seized the opportunity of the festive period to appreciate Allah and Muslims’ contribution to the of Akure Kingdom particularly since he ascended the ancestral throne some two years back.
The paramount monarch said, “There is no gainsaying that Akure and the state at large had remained peaceful and this is due largely to religious and ethnic tolerance among the indigenes and non-indigenes of the state.”
The statement said, “Oba Aladetoyinbo, therefore, wishes to use the occasion of this special event to urge all Muslims to continue to pray for the unity and peace of the nation. It is important to state that peace and justice remain the harbinger for the great Nigeria of our dream. We cannot therefore afford to cease in our continued prayer for this nation.
“I also wish to appeal to all Nigerians irrespective of their religion and tribe not to be weary in praying for a quick recovery and safe return of President Muhammadu Buhari. The President and the nation deserve our prayer at this critical time,” it charged.
On the issue of agitators, “I want to make a passionate appeal to the Federal government to engage the agitators in meaningful dialogue and explore all constitutional means in dutifully carrying it out. We cannot chide away from the need for a meaningful restructuring as a nation.
“We need a nation where all ethnics and tribes will feel secured, a society where justice shall reign in order to regain the confidence of all Nigerians who seem to be fast losing hope in the need for our continued existence. We must not pretend as if all is well but be fully prepared than ever to tackle the myriads of challenges currently bedeviling us as a united people.
“On the other hand, I am using this medium to call on the aggrieved to embrace dialogue rather than taking up arms. We may not be able to face the consequences of dragging this nation into another bloodletting through unguarded and hate speech.
“There is nothing wrong in seeking for equity and fairness, but we must be cautious in the process, considering the far reaching effect of using a divisive tool.
“Once again, I join millions of Nigerians to congratulate our Muslim brothers and Sisters. I enjoy you to continue in the spirit of good deeds which the holy month symbolizes,” the Deji of Akure said.
