After a long struggle over which community in Ondo State should host the Teaching Hospital Comolex of Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA)’s School of Health and Health Technology, Akure Division has finally won the struggle having the project located within its domain.

Performing the foundation laying ceremony for the FUTATHC, located at an area between Ilu Abo and Ogbese axis in Akure, on Wednesday, the Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi Odundun II, was grateful to all that were instrumental to the success of his Kingdom having the all-important Federal project located in its traditional territory.

A source in Akure told The DEFENDER on Friday that “Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhamad Sa’ad Abubakar, was also instrumental to the resuscitation of the project through the intervention of TETFUND”.

This, we gathered, is not far from being part of dividends of the 1-3 July, 2019 working visit of the Deji to the Sultan in the Seat of Caliphate where unity and peace among Nigeria’s multi-ethnic and multi-religious groups and diversities were further sealed and functionalized.

The commissioning was attended, along the Deji, by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Olu of Ilu Abo Akure, Chief Olu Falae, Vice Chancellor, FUTA, Professor Joseph Adeola Fuwape, Chairman Governing Council and Oro-Chancellor of FUTA, Hon. Idris Yakubu, the Chief Imam of Akure Kingdom, Sheikh Abdul-Hakeem Yayi Akorede, top government functionaries and many sons and daughters of Akure Kingdom.

The DEFENDER reports that another good thing that has happened to Akure Kingdom in same week is the appointment of its son, Senator Tayo Alasoadura, into the nation’s newly inaugurated Federal Executive Council (FEC) as Minister by President Muhammadu Buhari.

It will be recalled President Buhari, responding to a passionate request by the Deji of Akure, had sometimes in the past promised to appoint Akure’s sons and daughters into Federal offices.

Alasoadura, the Ondo State representative at FEC, is believed to be a great favour coming from Akure.
