The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has said that fighting corruption is the only way to guarantee the future of Nigeria as a country hence the commission will not relent in the fight.

Magu, who spoke during a meeting with journalists in Kano, said while those involved in corrupt practices were fighting back, the commission would continue to identify, arrest and prosecute corrupt people, no matter how highly-placed.

He described as mere rumours, stories that the agency was deliberately delaying prosecution of its cases, adding that from January to date, it had prosecuted 146 cases in different courts across the federation.

Magu debunked allegations that the commission only prosecutes opposition political party members, noting that two former governors that were prosecuted and sentenced courtesy of the commission’s investigation, were members of the APC.
