*Calls for Fani-Kayode’s arrest for inciting civil disobedience against polls success

Journalism teacher and poet, Dr. Emman Shehu, in his reaction to the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari as President-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has called on the government and its security forces not to relent as, according to him, desperation of the opposition must not be taken for granted.

Shehu, who spoke to The DEFENDER through the telephone from Abuja Wednesday, said the inciting statements by leaders of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) even at a time the election results were still under collation meant that they could be up to something and that they must not be given a space to actualize their plans.

He said: “It was not easy.  The nasty campaigns! They were ready for this campaign with everything; money, insults, lies, violence and others.  They were now trying to implement the nasty part of the Ballard report, by all means, which is to cause violence and which was what they were doing yesterday (Tuesday).”

Dr. Shehu also spoke on Femi Fani-Kayode’s attempted incitement of violence during which he called on PDP presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to immediately mobilize civil disobedience nationwide and form a parallel government, if he was not declared President-elect.

The PDP, according to our investigations, had put together a plan to churn fake election results in the public and to even go ahead and announce same so as to discredit the outcome of the constitutionally conducted elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The investigations further revealed that it was basically the PDP’s breach of electoral law whereby shocking discoveries of compromised process were made that led to the sudden shift of the elections from Saturday 16 February 2019 as earlier planned.

On the Fani-Kayode’s incitement Shehu said: “Look, the security forces should just start picking up these people who were making inciting statements.  They should be picked up because, if they do not pick them up now, they will still try to create problems.”

He said it was because of situation like this that the opposition politicians were calling on President Buhari to change his security chiefs.

“This was why they were calling on Baba to sack and change his security chiefs, because they had already infiltrated the military so that their own people would now come in and work against Baba.  That was exactly what they did but God made them to fail,” Dr. Emman Shehu said.
