Our remote and physical checks have shown that the weather condition in Madinah and Makkah, two Holy Cities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) where Muslims from across countries of the world are currently gathered to perform one of five pillars of their religion, Islam, is not as bad or unbearable as reported in a section of the media in Nigeria.

The DEFENDER, a Nigerian based investigative medium which has physical representation on ground in the nation that is headquarters of Islam in the world, can authoritatively report that despite the hotness of weather which is as high as 44°c, the miraculous nature by which Allah has continued to keep its citizens and residents going and cooling would not allow adverse effects.

Our Correspondent, who arrived via Madinah on Friday from Sokoto State, North West Nigeria, reports that the situation in the country is nothing to warrant the fears created by the report broadcast and published to Nigerian listening and reading public that the pilgrims suffer driness in Saudi Arabia due to hot weather to the extent that some kind of donor agencies around the world came to their rescue with supplies of water.

Since being in the country, water and power have never been in short supply. It was even gathered that while power supply stability and quality are not negotiable as electricity does not blink, the government of KSA has huge sanction for hoteliers whose water supply fails for minutes.

It was also gathered that distribution of bottled water as physically witnessed by our correspondent is one of the habits that people do during Hajj to earn Allah’s reward for being hospitable towards His visitors. “This unfortunately has been misconstrued by some Nigerian press as rescue supply due to hot weather and driness”, an apparently discomforted source said.

A source in Madinah told The DEFENDER on Sunday that, “When I was in Nigeria and heard the news of bad weather conditions in this place, SaudiA, I was afraid but only propelled to go ahead and come by my conviction about Islam regarding the miraculous nature by which this nation of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him has survived, not only as best in everything but also, as the most peaceful, most comfortable and most blessed country of the world.”

What we found on ground in Madinah as Sunday afternoon was that there is weather balancing in the Holy City.

“The Mosque of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him is surrounded by hotels. When you are inside you fill cold and if you like you come out and warm up. When you feel you have enough warning and you enter room you cool off. So there is no such condition as to warrant the misleading reports insinuating that Nigerian pilgrims face challenges of dryness due to hot weather. Life goes on and people have no complaint,” he said.

He added that, “after all Nigerians are not the only pilgrims in Saudi Arabia currently. Apart from the fact that the skin of Saudi inhabitants is the smoothest, cleaniest and most cooling, both of their men and women, many white skins from the United States of America, United Kingdom, Ubeskistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Bosinia, Russia among others who are here with us have no problem with the weather,” the source said.

In the mean time, the Saudi Arabia authorities and National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) have been commended for their performing capacities in energetically giving a well organised pilgrimage programmes this year.

“I have not seen a city more beautiful in architecutre, spirit, attitude and comportion like Madinah, same Makkah. These people are so law based, law abiding, so well organised and secured and so we are happy to be in their country to worship our Lord, Allah.

“I must also give it to the NAHCON for its welfare, security and medicals. May Allah reward them all with goodness and make our pilgrimage Hajj Mabrur,” he said.

When called on phone to comment on the “misleading” report earlier, Head of Public Affairs Unit, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Hajia Fatimah Sanda Usara, said she too wondered how those that reported it came about it.

She defended the press crew working with her in Saudi Arabia against responsibility for the negative report even as she said those carrying the news must have decided to get their information from sources other than what is on ground.

In the meantime, Sokoto State Government has been commended for its brilliant performance ensuring welfare and safety of pilgrims from it’s state for this year’s Hajj in Makkah and Madinah.
