Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), has declared his readiness to waive his constitutional immunity to “enable the most robust adjudication” of several baseless allegations, insinuation and falsehoods against his person and office.

Senior Special Assistant to the President attached to his office, Mr. Laolu Akande, disclosed this in a statement he issued in Abuja and sent to The DEFENDER on Wednesday.

According to the statement, Prof. Osinbajo made this declaration in a tweet he personally authored this (Wednesday) afternoon,” Akande said.

It will be recalled how a politician said to be Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s associate, Mr. Timi Frank, slammed a huge allegation of N90 billion collected by Osinbajo from Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to executive the 2019 elections in South West in favour of All Progressives Congress (APC).

The DEFENDER reported, Tuesday, the FIRS’ reaction demanding public apology and publication retractions of what it described as false claims from Frank or the claimant faces the legal consequences of his actions.

The Vice President, on his own, tweeted that: “In the past few days, a spate of reckless and malicious falsehoods have been peddled in the media against me by a group of malicious individuals.

“The defamatory and misleading assertions invented by this clique had mostly been making the social media rounds anonymously.

“I have today instructed the commencement of legal action against two individuals, one Timi Frank and another Katch Ononuju, who have put their names to these odious falsehoods.

“I will waive my constitutional immunity to enable the most robust adjudication of these claims of libel and malicious falsehood.”
