Former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has finally been docked as he appeared before the Federal High Court, in Ikoyi, Lagos following his arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Monday.

The DEFENDER had earlier on Monday reported that the controversial former governor might by docked in Lagos that day.

Fayose, who is facing trial on alleged misappropriation of N30.8 billion, pleaded not guilty.

Alongside his company, Spotless Investment Limited, he was charged to court by the EFCC for the offences he was alleged to have committed during his tenure as Ekiti State governor.

Justice Mojisola Olatiregun ordered that Fayose be remanded at the EFCC custody till Wednesday when his bail application will be heard in court.

After Fayose’s arraignment, his counsel, Kanu Agabi, informed the court of a motion on notice for his bail of the accused, saying same had been served on prosecution.

In response, the prosecutor, Rotimi Oyedepo, confirmed service of the bail application, but told the court that he required time to reply.

Justice Olatoregun consequently adjourned the case to October 24 for hearing of the bail application.

Meanwhile, following a plea by the defence counsel on the temporary remand of Fayose, the court ordered that he be remanded in custody of the EFCC pending bail.
