Son of Nigeria’s President, Alhaji Yusuf Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday night, had a bike accident around Gwarimpa area in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The young Buhari, according to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, broke a limb and also sustained injury on his head in the crash.

The statement further said that the President’s son had undergone surgery at a clinic in Abuja and now in a stable condition.

Yusuf, like other children of the Presidential Family, is so resourceful that when the President Muhammadu Buhari Family needed to make a physical presence at the last October convocation of the Crescent University Abeokuta (CUAB), he was the one that was chosen by the first family to represent it.  To Judge Bola Ajibola, Founder and Proprietor of the university, Yusuf’s presence as representative of the Muhammadu Buhari Family was no difference from his father, the President, physically present.

In the meantime, Judge Bola Ajibola, who is former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as well as a retired Jurist of the International Court of Justice (IJC) at The Hague, has sympathized with President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife, Aisha, over the accident of Yusuf, even as the former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom prayed that Yusuf would be granted a quick recovery by Almighty Allah.

In the same vein, the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, had expressed his wish for the speedy recovery of Yusuf, the son of the President.

Obaseki said Edo people were with the Nigeria’s first family in their trying times and urged the citizens to support the President and his family in prayers as he noted that “God is the one that perfects healing while doctors administer treatment.”

The Uthokoneze Achalla Kingdom, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Ezeoba Alex Nwokedi, also expressed concern over the news of accident of the Buhari’s son, praying that the Lord Almighty would grant Yusuf a quick recovery.

Igwe’s best wishes came just as former Minister of Communications, Major General Tajudeen Olanrewaju (Rtd), said from his home abroad that the news of the accident was not palatable to the ears as, according to him, it was too grieving of a thing to happen to a family leading the course of national restoration at this trying period in the life of Nigeria.

Olanrewaju prayed that Allah would grant Yusuf a quick recovery and restore him to his normal and sound health condition.

Former Commander of Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, Headquarters, Major General Abdullahi Adekunle Martins, has also expressed his sympathy with the President of the Federal Republic, Muhammadu Buhari, over the accident involved in by his son, Yusuf.  Martins wished Yusuf quick recovery.

Members of The DEFENDER media family also made themselves counted among those who wished good for the first family over the incident in which Yusuf Buhari had been reported to have been involved in a bike accident thus breaking a limb and getting injured in his head.

“As a media people, we have tried our best to be part of the process of national restoration being embarked upon by President Muhammadu Buhari even as some members of the society went to the extent of branding us pro-government without knowing that anyone who is part of struggle for national emancipation from the grip of corrupt elements cannot escape being tagged pro-government especially when the government is generally believed, locally and worldwide to be doing well compared to the past ones.  The news about Yusuf’s accident therefore would be shocking to us because whatever would shock the nation through the bad mood, temporarily though, of the governing family must be shocking to the rest who believe in the national restoration job Buhari is doing.  We pray therefore for Yusuf’s quick recovery,” The DEFENDER said through a statement by Manager Administration of Dream Concept that is the publishing company of the company, Basirat Shittu.

In the Presidency’s statement, copy of which was sent to The DEFENDER, Mallam Garba Shehu conveyed the appreciation of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Family to Nigerians who have expressed their sympathy and best wishes over the Yusuf’s accident.

“President Buhari and his wife, Aisha, have expressed appreciation to Nigerians for the good wishes and prayers for their son,” the statement added.

“The President prays that God will grant Dr. Kolade more wisdom, longer life and good health to continually serve the nation and humanity.”
