Nigeria’s President Buhari returns to Abuja from Saudi Arabia after Umrah Tuesday, to preside over valedictory FEC Wednesday

President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has returned to the country’s capital city of Abuja after a week long Umrah (lesser Hajj) visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which he embarked upon at the invitation of the Kingdom’s monarchical ruler, King Salman Abdul Aziz.

He returned on Tuesday along with his wife, Aisha, and other members of entourage on board the Nigerian Air Force 01 aircraft, which took-off from Royal terminal of the King Abdul’aziz International Airport around 2 p.m. and touched the ground at the presidential wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at 6.34 p.m.

On ground to welcome the President at the Airport were Mallam Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to the President, Alhaji Muhammed Bello, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Mohammed Adamu, Acting Inspector-General of Police, and other government functionaries.

The President had on Monday broken his fast with the Sultan of Sokoto and Amirul-Mu’mineen of Nigeria, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, who said he and other traditional rulers in the country were the support of the Buhari-led administration’s success.

While in Makkah, Buhari, who performed the lesser hajj alongside his wife, associates and aides, also held Iftar dinner meetings with prominent Nigerians, including Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Along with Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar, the Nigerian Leader also had Iftar dinner meeting with Alhaji Hussaini Adamu, Emir of Kazaure and some other notable Northern traditional rulers, where special prayers were offered for Nigeria to achieve total peace and stability.

The holy month of Ramadan is a blessed period for spiritual reflection and commitment when prayers are encouraged to achieve forgiveness, peace and prosperity of Nations.

Buhari is expected to preside over the valedictory session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday, barely a week before his inauguration for another four-year tenure.
