Army to Deploy Battalion Of K9

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai has directed the immediate deployment of a battalion of military dog to Maiduguri.

He gave this directive following the pocket cases of suicide bombings In Borno State.

He said this while inaugurating the Lieutenant Colonel B.U Umar Sports Arena at the Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri.

Induction Lectures For Ambassadors-Designate

With over $22 billion dollars on food imports of rice, wheat, fruit juices and even tooth picks, it becomes obvious that Nigeria’s economic recovery efforts hinges on agriculture and solid minerals development.

This was the meeting point of some of the lectures delivered by Minister of Agriculture Chief Audu Ogbeh and Kayode Fayemi Minister of solid minerals development, at the induction course for ambassadors designate in Abuja.

The Federal Government has been urged to put urgent machinery in place to recover over twenty-one billion dollars unremitted funds to fund the country’s economic recovery plan.

Executive secretary, Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), Waziri Adio made the plea in Abuja.

President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has applauded the Jigawa State Pension Scheme and urged the public especially pensioners to cooperate with government in the vanguard for a new Nigeria.

Plateau Deputy Speaker Impeached

The Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House Assembly Yusuf Gagdi has been impeached.

The followed the passage of vote of no confidence on the deputy speaker by 18 out of the 24 members of the assembly.

POWA Visits Police Command

The Police Officers’ Wives Association has restated its determination to synergize with the FCT command towards improving the welfare of officers and their families.

President Buhari Set to Launch Economic Recovery Plan

President Muhammadu Buhari is to formally launch the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan

According to a statement by the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, the launch is in furtherance of the current administration’s drive to sustain and build on the successes recorded in tackling corruption, in proving security and revamping the economy.

The statement shows that the medium – term ERGP earlier approved by the Federal Executive Council – Fec has as part of its strategic objectives; restoring sustainable, accelerated inclusive growth and development, investing in the people and building a globally competitive economy.

Presidential Committee on Small Arms Visits Katsina

The Presidential Committee on Small Arms has commended the success recorded by Katsina State Amnesty Programme which led to the surrender of weapons by repentant cattle rustlers in the state. Team leader of the presidential committee on assessment mission in Katsina State Air Commodore Joseph Adeleke said this while verifying the surrendered weapons deposited at the 33 battalion of the Nigerian Army in Katsina.

Reps Ask CBN to Enforce Credit Facility Policy

Incidentally, the House of Representatives put the issue of enforcement of credit grant to small and medium scale enterprise by commercial banks under close examination at Tuesday’s Plenary.

The motion moved by Representative Abubakar Amude Kanike urged the Central Bank of Nigeria to strengthen its enforcement measures to ensure compliance.

Senate on Outbreak of Meningitis

The senate has advised Federal Ministry of Health and its agencies to work closely with the world health organization with a view to acquiring sufficient vaccines needed to respond to the outbreak of meningitis in the country.

The advice followed a motion moved by Senator Gbenga Ashafa on the need to curb the spread and stop further deaths associated with meningitis.

Southern Borno Protest At National Assembly

The people of Southern Borno have urged the senate to reconsider the suspension of Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume with a view to reinstating him.

It was during a peaceful protest at the national assembly by a group under the auspices of the Southern Borno global initiative. Reports show that the group was received by the representatives of the senate.

VP Closes Ambassadorial Induction

The Federal Government is working towards putting in place necessary facilities that would address the numerous challenges hindering smooth services of the nation’s embassies abroad.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo made this known at the close of an induction programme for ambassadors designate in Abuja.

While urging the ambassador designates to be good representatives of the country, Vice President Osinbajo stressed the need for transparency in their dealings with their host countries, reminding them of the stand of the president on the fight against corruption.

The vice president said government is doing everything possible to have an enabling environment for ease of doing business in the country.
