Men of Ogun State Police Command on Sunday 5th of May 2019 arrested a 31 year-old fake soldier  by name, Jolly Gilbert.

The fake soldier, according to the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, was arrested during the raiding of criminal hideouts and black spots at Eyin Ogbe area of Ogijo, an Ogun State border community with Lagos State Shagamu-Ikorodu route area.

DSP Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested along with two others at the hideout in military camouflage shirt.

“On interrogation, the suspect claimed to be a solder serving with 174 Battalion of Nigerian Army.  A signal was sent to the Battalion to authenticate his claim and it was revealed that the suspect is a fake soldier,” the statement copy of which was sent to The DEFENDER on Sunday said.

Recovered from the culprit were a supposed solder identity card, a Jack knife, military hardware and assorted charms.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bashir Makama, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for discreet investigation and prosecution.
