Ogun police nabs 20-yr-old for defiling 9-yr-old girl

The men of Ogun State Police Command has arrested one Segun Olaseni, 20, for having unlawful carnal knowledge of a nine years old girl (name withheld).

His arrest followed a complaint from one Adepoju Akinyemi, who reported at Sango Ota Divisional Police Headquarter that the suspect came to his house at No 20 Eniola Street New life Estate Ota on Sunday 21st of May 2017, while he was at his working place and forcibly had carnal knowledge of his nine years old daughter.

The state police spokesman, ASP Abimnola Egbeyemi, disclosed this in a statement he issued on Wednesday, copy of which was sent to The DEFENDER.

“Upon the complaint, the DPO Sango Ota Division, SP Akinsola Ogunwale led detectives to the house of the suspect at No 24 Eniola Street New Life Estate Ota where he was promptly arrested.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offence, he claimed to have been much closed to the family since their houses are not far from each other.

“He stated further that he met the girl alone in their living room from where he dragged her into her father bedroom and have sex with her.”

Meanwhile the Commissioner of Police CP Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the transfer of the case to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation and possible prosecution of the suspect.

The Cp who decried the careless attitude of some parents towards their children especially female ones appealed to members of the public to take their children welfare serious so as not to make them easy prey in the hands of the devilish people.
