*As citizens blame PDP’s incitement of youths for ‘fake tweet’

“We now know that PDP’s incitement of youths to stay on the social media to bring down the government of Buhari and APC has started coming to action.  We knew that that incitement will be to the negative by a people who have always thrived in lies and dangerous rumours against Buhari as APC presidential candidate and now as victorious President of Nigeria.  But leave them, they will meet us there.  Presidency should not even have bothered.  We know them and we will face them on the social media, shoulder-to-shoulder, bone-to-bone, and that is if they even have bone,” the respondent said.

The Nigeria’s Presidency has alerted the public over a fake Twitter handle purportedly belonging to President Muhammadu Buhari, which it says it now in circulation.

The nation’s seat of power made this alert in his a statement issued in Abuja Saturday by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina.

Mr. Femi Adesina in the statement exposed the creators of the what has been described by many as evil Twitter handle as evil doers and enemies of the country, who, the newly installed Igbo chief said, were at work doing no less than seeking ways to further advance their destructive acts against Nigeria.

Denouncing the message, the Presidential adviser assured Nigerians that President’s earlier condemnation of the killings in Benue, Rivers and other parts of the country as dastardly and unacceptable act before God and man.

The Presidential statement read in full: “A message on a fake Twitter handle purportedly belonging to President Muhammadu Buhari is in circulation. The spurious message seeks to justify attacks by herdsmen, saying they were only defending themselves.

“Evil doers and enemies of our country are obviously at work, seeking ways to further advance their pernicious acts. The message is denounced in its entirety, and President Buhari stands by his earlier condemnation of the killings in Benue and other parts of the country as dastardly and unacceptable before God and man. Those behind the concocted message are also enemies of God and man, who have no place in a decent society.

“The President stands by his earlier directives that all those behind wanton killings in any part of the country must be brought to book.”

The Presidency’s statement came just as many respondents who spoke to The DEFENDER over the “evil tweet” had denied sent words of warning to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) over what they said was its recent inciting of youths to stay on the social media and destroy the Buhari’s government.

News reports, it would be recalled, had it that deputy chairman (South) of the PDP at an interactive session in Abuja incited youths particularly of PDP to fight President Buhari and All Progressives Congress (APC) via the social media, saying it was what they needed to do for the party now known locally and globally to be the most corrupt political party to ever be in power in Africa’s most powerful nation.

One of the respondents, Adedoyin Fusi, who spoke in Yoruba parlance “Aje ke l’ana omo ku l’oni, tani komo pe aje t’oke l’ana l’opomo t’oku l’oni?” (meaning, witchcraft sounded yesterday and a baby died today.  Who doesn’t know the witchcraft is responsible?).

He said, “We now know that PDP’s incitement of youths to stay on the social media to bring down the government of Buhari and APC has started coming to action.  We knew that that incitement will be to the negative by a people who have always thrived in lies and dangerous rumours against Buhari as APC presidential candidate and now as victorious President of Nigeria.  But leave them, they will meet us there.  Presidency should not even have bothered.  We know them and we will face them on the social media, shoulder-to-shoulder, bone-to-bone, and that is if they even have bone.”
