Presidency congratulates 7 Nigerians newly elected into British Parliament

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diapora, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has transmitted the joy of the government and people of Nigeria about the seven Nigerians, who won their elections as members of the United Kingdom Parliament in the elections held on Thursday.

According to the message personally by her, the Presidential aide alluded to the fact that the electoral victories of the Nigerian British citizens at their respective constituencies in the Diaspora was a proof that Nigerians could excel and make their country proud anywhere they found themselves in the world.

The message read:

“On behalf of the government and people of Nigeria, I hereby congratulate the seven British Nigerian candidates who won their elections as members of the UK parliament in the elections held on Thursday June 8, 2017.

“The unique feat is further evidence that Nigerians anywhere in the world will continue to excel and make the country proud.

“We wish them the very best and believe they will continuously serve their constituents with dignity and diligence,” Dabiri-Erewa wrote in the message sighted by The DEFENDER Friday night.

The seven successful candidates include: Chi Onwurah – Newcastle Central, Katge Osamor – Edmonton, Kemi Badenock – Saffron Walden, Bim Afolani – Hitchin & Harpenden, Chuka Umunna – Streatham, Fiona Onasanya – Peterborough and Helen Grant – Maidstone & The Weald.
