“What gives Fani-Kayode the temerity to dabble into matter of national security as far as corruption fight is concerned? So, you mean you are now talking like you are exposing government’s plan to freeze Onnoghen’s accounts.  Do you need to tell a thief where he will be taken to and what action will be taken against him when arrested?  Somebody is being tried over non-declaration of assets and bribery.  Thank you Femi, you don’t need to tell us that his so called accounts will definitely be frozen pending the determination of his case at the Tribunal.”

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s chieftain, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, has said he regrets the allegations he made Tuesday against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in which he claimed operatives of the anti-corruption organization raided the home of the embattled Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Samuel Onnoghen.

The DEFENDER reports that it was not the first time the former Minister of Aviation, Fani-Kayode, would be posting such ‘Fake News’ on his social media platform particularly Facebook.

He once posted on his Facebook wall that President Muhammadu Buhari had sacked a “Christian SGF” David Babachir and replaced him with “Muslim SGF” Mustapha only for him to take it down upon being confronted on same post that Boss Mustapha is not only a Christian but also a Pentecostal pastor.

It will also be recalled that only recently, the same Fani-Kayode, an acclaimed pastor and lawyer, had broken a news reported by Vanguard Newspaper, saying National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu slumped and remained in comma in hospital immediately after President Buhari appointed him to take full charge of his presidential campaign council.

The report was later discovered to be ‘Fake News’ hence Vanguard, in another publication, apologized for pushing such unfortunate, untrue news to the public.

The latest allegation of EFCC raid on Onnoghen’s home by same Fani-Kayode sparked the fury of the anti-graft agency which, in a swift reaction, threated to sue the former minister for defamation, describing him as a purveyor of Fake News in the country.

However, in a statement published on his Facebook wall, on Wednesday, the PDP chieftain apologised for his earlier comment but maintained that some people actually searched the CJN’s home.

The former minister also claimed that the Federal Government had perfected plans to freeze Onnoghen’s bank accounts.

He said, “Yesterday I was informed by usually reliable sources that EFCC were positioned outside CJN’s home. I have since discovered that the men were not from EFCC and I removed the posting. The error is regretted.

“Meanwhile can the Federal Government tell us which agency sent those men and why they beat a retreat? Again is it true that a television journalist was arrested at the scene and his camera and footage confiscated? If so, why?

“Finally is it true that the Attorney General has ordered the NFIU to freeze Onnoghen’s bank accounts. Questions, questions, questions! The tyranny continues unabated.”

Also reacting to yet another subjective post by Fani-Kayode making it look like he was revealing plans of government against an allegedly corrupt judge, a respondent queried:

“What gives Fani-Kayode the temerity to dabble into matter of national security as far as corruption fight is concerned? So, you mean you are now talking like you are exposing government’s plan to freeze Onnoghen’s accounts.  Do you need to tell a thief where he will be taken to and what action will be taken against him when arrested?

“Somebody is being tried over non-declaration of assets and bribery.  Thank you Femi, you don’t need to tell us that his so called accounts will definitely be frozen pending the determination of his case at the Tribunal.

“By the way, your action tells us one thing: that you are the very creator of all the Fake News that have caused loss of lives and threats to national security in recent times and that your party, PDP, has an affinity with the allegedly corrupt Chief Justice of Nigeria,” the respondent who spoke under strictly demanded anonymity said.
