*”When you don’t silence thieves on time, they will show audacity”

Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as group of people without shame.

The PDP in a statement by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Sunday had said that its presidential candidate for the 2019 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, if elected in 2019, would jail “all looters” of public treasury under the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.

The PDP said Atiku will open a system-wide fight against corruption as soon as he is elected into office and strengthen the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other institutions empowered by law to do their job.

The opposition party in a statement yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan said Atiku would also concentrate on the onerous duty of governance and rescuing the people from hunger and bloodletting.

But the All Progressive Congress (APC), reacting to the statement, lampooned the opposition party saying whatever it said was inconsequential to the issues on ground in the country and, as a result, that the ruling party would not stoop to its level.

This reaction was given by APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, who said: “Whatever the PDP is saying is inconsequential to the issues on ground. It’s like a black man calling himself white or vice versa.

“We have been in power for just over three years and what we are doing is to tell the people what we have achieved in these few years and not responding to what the PDP is saying. It is inconsequential and we won’t stoop to their level.”

Give respite to thieves, they will show audacity – Respondents

In the meantime, some Nigerians who respondent at different levels expressed disappointment that PDP still have audacity to claim “holy than thou” after their 16 years of taking Nigeria through hell, economically and security wise.

One of the told The DEFENDER that, “It is not their fault.  Let us blame President Buhari who decided to use rule of law in dealing with hardened criminals who do not so deserve.  However, we believe that it is the sincere rule of law that the converted democratic is using in dealing with them, anyway, that God is giving him victory over them.

“Is it money that Buhari has to fight these people? But he has God and God is using the people to support him.  That is why when you open the social media you see many Nigerians from across the tribes, the religions and even the political parties who are working for him.

“Yes, you have some business-minded religious leaders who are threatening heavens collapse, so you have some ethnic jingoists who are using the excuse of restructuring, both groups working for these corrupt politicians to come back to power.  But the sincerity of Buhari is giving him victory and so we are with him.  They will all fail.

“Yes, they will fail because, it has never been heard that thief can ever know how to stop others from stealing.  Where people with heavy loads of corruption and other stealing hanging on their necks now claim to jail nonexistent looters, does it not mean there is fire on the mountain and so that we should begin to run, run and run?” He asked.
