“What the declaration by Igwe Onwuka has done is to test the capacity of Nigerian security and for the security not to have done anything on it since on Monday is a sign that people would begin to take our national security and territorial integrity for granted except something quick is done.  But if truly the media report that DSS is planning to put them under watch and questioning, they have our support,” he said.

It has been reported that there are indications that some of the names listed to be on the “interim government of Biafra” are now under security watch and may be brought to questioning by the Department of State Service (DSS).

A Pro-Biafra group, Biafra Zionist Federation (BZF), led by Chief Benjamin Igwe Onwuka, had on Monday announced an “interim government in Nigeria.”

Onwuka, who addressed journalists in Enugu with members of his group, declared that the “interim government”, which would run for 30 days beginning from August 1 was a prelude to the “full declaration of Biafra Republic on September 1, this year”.

He claimed that he had secured the support of the United States to declare “Biafra and form government”.

Onwuka named himself as the President and would go by the title Biafra Zionist President.

He also announced his would-be cabinet members, with the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, as Biafra Ambassador to the United Nations; Prof. Jerry Gana as Minister of Transportation; Prof. Pat Utomi as Foreign Affairs Minister; while Israel would retain Defence, Internal Affairs and Agriculture as well as 25 percent of the civil service positions in Biafra.

Further named were Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as governor of the Central Bank of Biafra (CBB); Mrs. Aruma Oteh as Minister of Finance and a former Personal Secretary to the late former Biafran leader Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu as Minister of Petroleum.

Up till the time of filing this report, none of the names mentioned on that “Biafra cabinet” had denied involvement or distance him or herself from the new declaration of “Biafra interim government in Nigeria”.

This made a respondent wondered why the Nigeria’s security has not taken bold step at arresting the declarer of the “Biafra” which he said was a slap in the face of Nigeria.

In the meantime, Vanguard reported on Saturday that indications Friday night revealed that the Department of State Services (DSS) was planning to under security watch those named by Biafra Zionist Federation (BZF) as “interim government cabinet members” and some prominent Nigerians and may bring them on for questioning.
