Some Yenagoa residents and business outfits have lauded the Port-Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PEDC), for improved power supply in the area.

They gave the commendation in Yenagoa on Tuesday.

The Chairman of Amarata, Light Committee, Mr Sukume Wilson, said the PEDC should be commended for improved power supply in Bayelsa.

Wilson said that it was only fair that any firm or business outfit with a noticeable improvement in its services to the public should be commended.

Another resident, Mr Benson Eferebofa, a civil servant, also confirmed that there had been a remarkable improvement in power supply in the last three weeks.

“I cannot remember the last time we had stable power supply in this Bayelsa like the present time; I cannot remember the last time we had light for more than 24 hours at a stretch.

“For some days now, we go to bed and wake up with light and it remains stable till evening without going off.

“This is an improvement that should be commended,’’ he said.

Mr Wisdom Onwubiko, a business man, said that the privatisation of the power sector had brought efficiency into the service delivery in the sector.

“The improvement witnessed in the power sector marks the beginning of a new dawn in the country.

“This will attract both the international and local investors to invest in the Nigeria,’’ he said.
